  • It was important for FC Barcelona to strengthen the depth in the defensive department. Jordi Alba now covers the left back position since Abidal is injured, and now Alex Song provides cover for the CDM and CB positions. As good as Busquets is, he is actually quite frail and possibly injury prone. Puyol is still good but aging. The transfer movement by Barca this summer was actually quite excellent, despite what many people are saying.
